Oscar Scherer State Park
/We are so fortunate to live near two State Parks: Myakka River and Oscar Scherer. We enjoy both of them so much. We spent some time at Oscar Scherer this week and had a great time discovering some wonderful places to photograph.
Clyde and I took a short walk trying to find some photography near the lake, but the light wasn’t right and the clouds weren’t dramatic, so we headed to some other trails. Due to Clyde’s stroke, walking a distance is difficult. Also, walking on an uneven surface is difficult. All of that diminishes the places we can search for photos, but it doesn’t stop Clyde from finding dynamite images that are easy to get to. The trail along South Creek is a gentle trail, so we decided to check it out.
This part of the South Creek Trail looked very enticing, so I decided to take a walk down it to see if it was worth a long walk for Clyde to photograph anything. I found something, and dashed back to get him. The storm clouds were starting to form, which gave us nice even light, but we might also be caught in a downpour. He was up for the walk, so off we went.
Just as we finished photographing the scene, it started to rain. I grabbed our camera’s, wrapped them in plastic bags, and we headed to the car. By the time we got to the car we were soaked! But, oh, it felt so good to have found a wonderful scene to photograph and then be embraced with rain.
