After spending time at Cap de Crues and then Dali's home in Portlilgat, we spent several days searching for photographs. The weather was perfect...just the right temperature, clear blue skies, and a gentle Mediterranean Sea. Perfect for a human, but not so good for photography. I think we are some of the few people who love it when bad weather shows up, it's always great for photography! Never the less, we drove around and took photographs and discovered the beautiful little cove of Plaja de S’Alqueria Petita where Clyde spent several days photographing the hard-rugged rock formations dipping into the Mediterranean Sea.

When we returned home, I came across this photograph of Dali in the nude on the same beach and location where Clyde took the previous image, Plaja de S’Alqueria Petita 9. Dali made me smile, as do so many of his behaviors. It's always fun to know people who are not living their lives in a "square box"...and Dali's box certainly was a varied shape!

We had been warned that during the winter months, Cadaques and north of the Costa Brava, could be hit with very heavy winds called Tramuntana. Because the wind comes off the Pyrenees mountains, it is cold and can blow as hard as 35-40 mph. It is known to cause damage to property and drive residents into depression. The wind is how Costa Brava, which translates as "wild coast," got its name.

It wasn't until the day when the Tramuntana brought hard winds, rolling clouds, and rough seas that things became great for photography.

When the wind hit, it seemed everyone disappeared. Clyde didn't have to worry about having people in his photographs. We had the whole area to ourselves and had so much fun photographing. The clouds added a soft texture in contrast to the rugged rocks of the area. It was a couple of great days for photography!

After spending several hours photographing, Clyde was ready to adjourn to the hotel to rest. Jackie and I, once again, enjoyed exploring Cadeques.

On one of our walks, we came across the gallery of photographer, Joan Vehi. Even though Joan didn't speak English very well, we both spoke photography. The conversation was enjoyable, and when we left, he gave us one of his books. Not only has he photographed Dali, but he also photographed Cadaques. All of his photographs are now a part of the history of Cadaques. We enjoyed looking through his book very much. We had brought several of Clyde's books with us to give away, so when I returned to the hotel, I picked up one of Clyde's books and gave it to Joan.

During the days that Jackie and I walked through Cadaques, we were amazed at the number of cats. I guess Dali was too because we saw this poster of him with a couple of cats. I couldn't resist photographing a few of the cats, so if you love cats, enjoy, otherwise, carry on to the next chapter. :)
