Myakka State Park ~ Photography trip

During the stay-at-home time during Covid-19, we longed to be out in nature. One day we couldn't take it any longer and put on our masks and headed to Myakka State Park for some photographic fun.  While Clyde sat in his walker, waiting for the light to get right, we enjoyed the simplicity of the silence surrounding us. It was as though we had been transported to another planet where peace was all around. It felt good...and we felt refreshed after the day was done.

As you can tell by the photo above of Clyde, this scene was horribly back-lit. The tree was black when he put the image into photoshop. What amazed Clyde and I was that the Leica actually retained the detail in that black space and didn’t make it mush when Clyde lightened it in photoshop. The tree has all the texture, shape, and shadows that are true.

Hand-painted photograph - I photographed this scene in the same location where Clyde photographed his oak tree. My photograph was also horribly back-lit, but I wanted that to happen. I wanted the sky to wash out so that I could put my dream sky into it. Every time we go to Myakka, I feel like I'm on a different planet...a place filled with peace and joy. This image is my expression of how I felt while spending our first day in nature after a long covid-19 sequestering.
